Learned Helplessness And Neuropathy (Vid)

Today's short video post comes once again from the very useful series by Dr John Hayes Jr (see link below). Here he talks about something called 'learned helplessness' which in our case can be caused by constant stress and/or the medication we need to take. Basically he is asking neuropathy patients to be much more proactive in their own treatment and to be aware of how easy it is to fall back on the given elements like pain and medication, thus accepting the situation as it is and making no progress. Sometimes, we just don't move forward as a result of saying to ourselves; 'Oh well, because of this or that, I can't do much about it.'

Episode 27 – Feeling Helpless?

Dr. Hayes talks about the psychology of “learned helplessness” and what patients can do to take control of their health.
